A 25 minute odyssey based on the legend of the Sirens containing both originally composed texts and electronic music, wherein the live sound of the flute enters into a dialogue with the rhythm. Music, language and body denote qualities that venture out to make new meaningful relationships, since Sirens is essentially the endeavor to decode past myths and awaken modern-day Sirens that are still yet to be heard. Their knowledge about earth and human relationships have been silenced, their tribal identities exiled and cursed. The Sirens, mythological nomad, women with wisdom, connected to their soil and yet traveling to the unknown to protect life. It is the transposition into the contemporary context which facilitates a critical analysis in order to then develop a new perspective view of modern communication and current political enticement and hypocrisy. Inspired by Plato's “Eight Singing Sirens” and the snake ritual documented by Aby Warburg when he visited the Pueblo as well as Homers hero epos on Odysseus, it is my attempt to awaken their spirit and to unravel a myth.

An electronic, industrial and celestial sound collage hits against the human voice. Irregular sounds at 130 beats per minute. In between a body, inhaling space and exhaling sensation. A concert to observe and take part in, a journey to question one’s perceptions and its maintenance. It explores seductive temptation, while giving myth a contemporary outcome.

What makes us human in a world controlled by artificial advisors? Where do we find pleasure or rather how does PLEASURE finds us?

Women, bound to beauty of body and voice, yet harassed as monsters due to fear of arousing uncontrollable desires are silenced and exiled.

Odysseus plugged his ears with wax, Orpheus outsang them thus disallowing any form of dialog. The Gods punished them with animal features for disobeying their wishes. They were made responsible for all misfortune, male impulsiveness, sins, bad & fake news, and failures.

Sirens: we appreciate each individual experience of trust, we respect, tolerate and criticise.
Let's rethink, forgive, and join together in our responsibility to sustain our culture and heritage to the Song of the Sirens.
